Hiking part II

My shoes @ the end of Hike.

Well, went to another hike this pass Saturday with AP and we were joined by Carlos. We went to the Manoa Falls again, but this time we took the Aihualama trail that loops into Pauoa Flats that takes you all the way to the top of the mountain and the top u can see the windward side and the airport, it was amazing and tiring. The hike was fun, we reached Manoa Falls about 30minutes, and went off to the side trail. Along the trail we encountered alot of muddy areas, vines, and bamboo trees. We got to see a face on a tree, sort of reminded of "Treebeard" from LOTR movie. Half way to the hike a light drizzle started to fall, then it stopped. I might add before I went to pick up the gang, I came from work and not having any lunch so basically dreaming of food, and I had a power bar in my bag, which I wish I brought with me, but didn't. I was getting exhausted, I felt light headed about 3/4ths of the hike, but I overcame, I am not gonna pass out doing a hike. Anyways, AP was ahead of Carlos and I, she was steaming foward, only obstacle that stopped her was the muddy part of the trail, but after that she just chugged along, with me behind huffing and puffing, [boy this hike really made me realize my age], and Carlos in the back. At the top man, the view was majestic, it was I remembered it the first time I was there, but it was sunnier the first time, we took some pictures, hung and rested at the top for about 15-20minutes. Then we shot like rockets going downhill mud splashing everywhere, breathing hard, and hunger setting in, but I kept going. 1/4th to the hike, it started rainning again, damn and it didn't lighten up, it was very huge drops also. So, AP picked up her pace and we behind her trying to keep up, man she is a hiker. Halfway to the hike I nearly fell off the edge was taking a step and one of my footing slipped and I was balancing, like a dude on a tightrope, that was a rush. Almost there as we hit the intersection where the flats and trail splits, rested and took a picture. Then we took off again, AP is fast. I was just afraid something might happen to her, but nothing she was like just floating on the trails avoiding all known obstacles. COOL! Anyways, we reached the bottom at a record 1 hour. We were exausthed and all, and ready to go home. I took the gang home at about 5:30ish, at the drop off; before I was about to leave and AP going to her dorm looked at me and asked "So where are we going to hike the next time?" I replied "Silly girl after this ordeal you still want to hike." She laughed and said "Off course." That's my fun day in a nutshell. Also, just to add I never walked so much in my life because the day before we walked from Ala Moana to Waikiki.[to be continued...]

Treebeard.
